Life is strange. It makes you meet people who become important to you in no time and sometimes an entire lifetime goes in understanding their worth. It was year 2005 when I was interning with one of the prestigious law firms in Delhi. The entire team was very friendly and the working atmosphere was very conducive for learning.I remember working on due diligence of airports. It was a very crucial project and we were every engrossed in it. This project was headed by one of the partners of the firm, Naveen Goel. I never really interacted with him as I used to think that he was not very open with his thoughts and expression. But I always looked at him with utmost respect and regard. As the project ended it was also time for me to leave the lawfirm and join a new company.
It was my last working day at the firm and I had got sweets for everyone. When I reached office I was given the news by Ajay Bhargava another partner in the firm that Mr. Goel's father had passed away that morning. When I refused to distribute the sweets Ajay sir told me "Naveen had called up in the morning to inform us about his fathers demise. He had organised a small farewell party for you for which he had ordered a cake and was suppose to pick on his way to office. Due to this mishap he wont be able to do it so has asked some one else to do it for him...and tell anshu LIFE GOES ON'. We attended his fathers funeral and I never saw him after that day.
But those words still haunt me. A person who has lost his father would still remember to pick the cake he had ordered for a literally non existant unimportant intern. Such people are larger than life. You dont have to hear them say but sometimes their actions leave an imprint in your mind which can never be erased by the winds of time.
